The MagicJack internet phone is one of today’s most innovative creations that was actually designed to save the consumer money. I must admit, I was skeptical in the beginning, after all something that is supposed to be magic that gives you something for free, is usually not the case, nothing is ever magical; and free will usually cost you something, sooner or later. This is different!

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is nothing new, with services like Vonage, Skype and Phone Power that will save you money on your phone bill; but not like the MagicJack Internet Phone can. So what is MagicJack phone? The MagicJack Internet Phone is a computer peripheral that plugs into your computer using a USB port. The MagicJack Internet Phone in nothing but dongle the size of a box of matches that carries the electronics and the software needed to place free local and long distance calls over the internet anywhere within the US, and Canada.

Once you plug this VoIP device into your Windows or Intel based Mac computer, the preloaded software will start the registration process. This only takes minutes, but take your time; you don’t want to have to go back in to change something once the registration is finished. From here you simply plug in any regular phone you used with your old landline and start placing calls.

 
One of the most astonishing features of the MagicJack internet phone, is its price. When I first heard of what the MagicJack Price was, my first thought was - wouldn't that be great! make as many long distance calls as you want and talk as long as you want, for only - what, $39.95 a year! you have got to be kidding me.

I really nearly fell out of my chair when I found out that was only for the first year and that additional yearly phone service with the MagicJack Internet Phone would only be $19.95. Well of course this was too good to be true? How could something offering this much value only cost you $20.00 a year when I have been paying $60.00 to $80.00 a month for basic phone service. Well that was two and half years ago and I have not paid a monthly phone bill since!

But How Does MagicJack Work? Well, as I had stated above, I had first heard about this neat little device two and half years ago, and yes, even though I was skeptical I felt it was worth the risk of $40.00 to possibly save over $600 bucks a year on my existing phone bill, so I ordered this new phone device called The MagicJack Internet Phone.

Three days after I first plugged the unit into my computer, I called and canceled my AT&T phone service and have never looked back. I have been using my MagicJack ever since and have saved around $1500.00 so far on my phone bill. For me yes MagicJack has worked and worked beautifully.

There are a few things that you must have in order to use the MagicJack Internet Phone. You don’t need any special phone, any regular phone or phone base will work. If your phone base has several handsets then a self powered USB hub may be required to provide the additional power needed. If you don’t have a phone, you can use your computer speakers and a microphone.

MagicJack internet phone will not work with a dialup or Satellite internet connection. There is a minimum of 128 kbs upload speed that is required in order for MagicJack to work propely.

MagicJack is defiantly free to call any long distance in the US and Canada, but what about everywhere else. MagicJack International Rates  is competitive in its per minute rates. There are a lot of international calls that only cost 1 or 2 cents per minute, while others get a little more expensive.

Should you Buy Magic Jack online? When I got mine there was only two ways to purchase one, and that was either go directly to their site (like I did) or order over the phone through one of their late night infomercials. But nowadays most any big; and now some small retailers are stocking this little device on their shelves. Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Radio Shack and Walgreens to name a few are all carrying this unit, and yes you can still go to their website or order it over the phone.
